Margaret Abbey Bennecker
Margaret Abbey Bennecker, 86, of Harriman, died Friday, March 3, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
She was a member of Harriman United Methodist Church in Harriman and a member of Laurel Chapter 22 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William M. and Cora P. Ellis Giles; two sisters; and eight brothers.
Survivors include husband, E. Barton Bennecker of Harriman; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynnette and Lester Easter of Kingston, Toni Cook of Harriman, Phyllis and Larry Vice of Vienna; grandchildren and spouses, Lisa, Lori, Lance and Jody Easter, all of Kingston, Amy and Eric Hall of Oakdale, Graham and Mindy Vice of Vienna, Va.; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Sexton and Jordan Hall of Oakdale; and Landon Easter of Kingston.
Funeral service was at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Kyker Funeral Home chapel, Harriman with the Rev. Mason Goodman officiating.
Burial was 2 p.m. Sunday in Roane Memorial Gardens.
Margaret was the last living child of William Morgan GILES and Cora Pickens ELLIS. She was born, raised, and lived her entire life in Harriman, Roane Co, TN. During the last years of her life, Margaret, a breast cancer survivor and an almost completely blind diabetic, struggled with heart disease. On March 20th, she and her husband Barton Bennecker, would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. [You can read about their 65th wedding anniversary | here |.]
